Shift4 Fees - Understanding Cash Advantage Program

What is the Cash Advantage Program?
The Cash Advantage Program is a game changer for business that process credit cards. It has the potential to save you thousands every month on your processing fees! Many of our customers have already taken advantage of this program and are already seeing massive savings!

Here's how it works:

Both the order entry screen and the guest check display pricing for cash and credit/debit card payments. Customers can choose their preferred payment method:

  • Cash payments receive a discounted price.
  • Credit/debit card payments include a small non-cash adjustment. (This is the fee that is passed on to your customer for using their credit card).

This ensures transparency while allowing customers to decide how they want to pay.

See examples of order entry and guest checks below to see how fees are presented to the customer:

What is Billing by Gross?

Billing by Gross means that credit card (CC) processing fees are not deducted from the daily batch deposit. Instead, the full batch amount is deposited into your account, and the CC fees are drafted separately in a combined transaction at a later time.

Here’s an overview of how this setup works and its benefits:

How It Works

Each business day’s transactions are batched together and the batch amount on your report will match the amount that is deposited in your bank account. This enables cleaner reporting and faster reconciliation.

1. Sales Generated:

For example, a batch for July 1, 2024, totaling $10,098.50 is processed.

2. Batch Processing:

  • July 1, 2024 (Batch): Merchant collects $297.81 in CC fees and Batches $10,098.50 in credit card sales.
  • July 3, 2024 (Deposit): Full amount of $10,098.50 deposited to the merchant’s bank account.
  • July 3, 2024 (Fee Withdrawal): CC fees total of $341.53 withdrawn.

***Merchants that accept tips will always collect less CC fees than distributed to Shift4.***

3. Statements:

End of Month Processing Statement from Shift4. Total CC Fees merchant distributed to Shift4.
